The president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has directed the arrest of the President of the Ghana Football Association over fraud
Kwesi Nyantakyi is believed to be engaged in some influence peddling using the name of the president.
The directive follows an investigative piece by ace investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
Deep throat sources at the presidency told Joy News the president and his team had watched excerpts of the video in which Mr Nyantakyi was seen negotiating for an amount of money using the name of the president.
A directive was subsequently issued to the CID to have Mr Kwasi Nyatakyi arrested.
The embattled football head is likely to answer charges of defrauding by false pretense.
The content of the video is likely to confirm a strongly held opinion about corruption in football administration in the country, perception spokespersons in the Football Association have been quick to deny.
Mr Nyantakyi only days ago signed a $10million sponsorship deal for the premier league which has run for some three years without a sponsor.
It is not clear what the new sponsors- Zylofon Cash- will do or say with the new twist of event.

President’s assessment
A Deputy Chief of Staff Abu Jinapor who confirmed Joy News’ exclusive said the president takes serious view of the damning revelations contained in the Anas video.
Having been seized with the facts as contained in the video, Abu Jinapor said the president conferred with his lawyers and others who believed a prima facie case has been triggered for investigation.
According to him, Nyantakyi attempted to use the name of the president and vice president to induce potential investors to part with various sums of money
“The president takes a serious view of this and believes it is a case of criminal conduct,” Jinapor said.
The Deputy Chief of Staff said investigations have since begun.

Checks at the FA headquarters indicate the offices have been reduced to a 'ghost town.'
Joy News' Ernest Manu reported seeing a number of cars drive out shortly after Joy News broke the news of the arrest warrant for the president of the FA.
Reports say Mr Nyantakyi is currently in Morroco and will turn himself in to the police CID when he arrives tomorrow.

Ghana FA Spokesman Labeled as a "Scammer"

Ghana FA spokesman Ibrahim Sannie Daara has labeled as a "scammer" claims that the Local Black Stars recent international friendly against Japan took place on the blindside of the country’s sports ministry.

The country’s tough-talking sports minister Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, who has been engaged in a running battle with the federation, claimed sensationally that his outfit was unaware of the international friendly exercise.
But it appears that claims by the legislature has gone off the roof with emerging evidence suggesting the contrary.
The federation’s spokesman Ibrahim Sannie Daara has stick knife into the  federation,, describing his clams as palpable lies.
“It ’sun fortunate it has gotten to this level. But absolute falsehood,” he charged on Accra-based Starr FM
“In the presence the Ghana FA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi, the minister and officials of the ministry, this friendly was discussed.
“He (minister) was the one who even requested Avram Grant travel to Japan to monitor the boys.
“So if he didn’t know, how come he asked that Avram traveled with the team to Japan.
“I am telling you, it’s all lie, lies, that’s what it is, lies. You can quote me on that.” he fumed
Several key members at the Ghana FA have complained about the utterance and conduct of the minister since he assumed office.
It’s been widely perceived he a bone to pick with the federation even though he has constantly denied.
 “We have worked with a lot of ministers (since he became the Communications Director) but, I would specially applaud two ministers, Hon. Elvis Afriyie Ankrah and Hon. Mahama Ayariga for their great services for the sport” Mahama Ayariga left his legacy in the sports ministry in terms of generating revenue a legacy he introduced the NLA Soccer Cash and under his guiding Ghana reached the AFCON final

Sannie gained international prominence in 2001 when his personal appeal to FIFA earned Ghanaian goalkeeper Sumaila Abdallah the FIFA Fair Play Award for saving an opponent's life during a game through mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.
While reporters and fans rushed home to watch a UEFA Champions League game on television immediately after the infamous match between arch-rivals Hearts of Oak and Kotoko, Sannie stayed behind to discover the gory sight.
He broke the news on radio with a brief report before joining the few fans at the stadium to give first aid to the injured and helped to evacuate the dead as the emergency services delayed in arriving.

Ghanaians Call For GFA President To Resign

THE Ghana Football Association  president  Kwesi Nyantakyi is to step down from heading the Black Stars after mounting internal pressure, according to Citi Sports..

The Chairman of the Black Stars Management Committee position is one of the most strategic and most coveted among the FA’s inner circle because of the power that comes with it.

With the senior national team being Ghana football’s flagship brand, whoever is in charge has considerable influence. And that is why Nyantakyi took over the position from his former Vice President Fred Pappoe.

Pappoe had occupied the position from 2005 until 2011.

Since that time, Nyantakyi has been criticised for giving himself too much to chew since managing the Black Stars is a notoriously detailed job.

It is this apparent lack of detail that, internal sources tell Citi Sports, is the reason why the national team has been floundering since Nyantakyi took over in 2011.

The final straw

Matters have come to a head in the last 24 hours after the Ghana FA’s highest decision-making body, the Executive Committee, prevailed upon the administrator to relinquish the position.

The Ghana team has in the last three major tournaments seen consistent reports of indiscipline, infighting, bizarre black magic claims and bonus fiascoes, things which were largely absent – or if they did, almost never became public – when Pappoe was at the helm.

What it means

Watchers say this decision could be just one of many internal reforms needed for the Ghana FA to gain public trust in its workings, at a time when the country has seen its image dented by the public airlifting of $3M to pay player bonuses in Brazil.

But with Nyantakyi even more determined not to resign altogether, despite increasing calls for him to do so, others also believe this move is just a gimmick to keep fans quiet while business as usual continues
